Roland is from the small town of Santander on Cebu Island (Philippines). I'm an American with a home there and have met him. When he first told us about being asked to perform on AGT, my wife and I thought it was some kind of scam. Once we realized it was legit, it was our honor to help this humble man. Hopefully, you will all get to hear his life story at some point and be as proud of him as we are. AGT is a class act for how well they treated him.

Yeah, he's good as you have pointed out. But he just missed to translate one thing~ Heidi asked if Roland needs a hug first before singing, or Roland is good without it. Then the translator just asked Roland whether he is ready to sing, no mention of the hug, to which Roland responded 'Ok'. Roland's ok means he's ready to sing :) Heidi must have thought that her msg was communicated and understood well. That is why she went up the stage to give Roland a hug before he sings. ;)

In Vietnam we had Filipino bands play at the NCO club and they were the very best of bands in all of southeast Asia. You have to remember how long Americans have been in the Philippines - it's no wonder they are spot on and damn near perfect. They work hard to hone their craft.

its cause he has good facial structure. If you look at 00:51, he has very worn down teeth compared to most people of today. This probably means he has been chewing on rough hard foods all his life, giving him strong jaw bones and musculature, and probably has excellent tongue posture based on how insanely well developed his cheek bones are. Both the tongue posture in the skull, and the jaw muscles, have given him excellent bone structure - powerful prominent jaw, cheekbones to die for, wide open pallete. These give him massive intraoral space, and therefore allow for great resonance, breath control, support, and an open airway.

I normally don't watch AGT but happened to ran into KZread and saw this Filipino young man auditioning in AGT. He seems all over KZread as AGT contestant buzzing how good this Filipino contestant is. I never heard of him. So I watched him and what the reactions from many channels. Thank you for your channel supporting our artists. América is great for these artists for welcoming them in audition. Wow!! Impressive!! Amazing bravado raspy soulful, Steven Tyler, ACDC grit voice, have so much control and could blend a power ballad song a big song to tackle in a stellar performance for not such a big young man. He has no professional vocal couch but did an amazing performance. At the beginning he was so nervous, emotional but once he started he sure did own the stage and the crowds. I even cried watching him getting emotional and nervous. I would be too. Even Simon reaction was surprised. A standing ovation. Haha!! Now I'd been watching him from different channels and listening his auditioned performance over and over. Funny, I even listen to his audition to wine down on sleep lol!! He is also such a humble young man. He was very gentleman assuring Heidi getting back on steps carefully. Great job!! Praying you go all the way to the final. Thank you for showing this video. Loving it. Sure this boy can sing, very hard working young man, fisherman in the morning and delivery man in the evening. What a tough job. So much respect for you young man given English is your 3rd language but sing that English song fluently. You able to be on that stage with millions of viewers Such a humble young man. As a Canadian living in the Philippines I have seen first hand, the incredible talent here. There are so many talented people here. So much love for music. This performance gave me goosebumps!!! Amazing amazing amazing!!! I feel blessed for hearing this. I can't imagine anyone else singing this song better. You have raised the bar for anyone in this world singing this better. His talking voice is so soft...His singing voice, phenomenal...

When he said he just singing in their neighbourhood by a Karaoke, they laughed... Boy, you have no idea, what karaoke singers here in the Philippines can do..

I met Roland several times when I was assigned in a small town of Santander, Cebu, Philippines. He always stayed right beside the town's municipal hall building while waiting for passengers in his motorbike, locally known as habal-habal. A humble person as he is, making him a friend to every person he met

Good luck to this man I'm Filipino and we knows Simon tactics he will not allow Filipino to win to that competition....if that representative from Indonesia got a golden buzzer from Simon it's a big chancers for her to win coz that Simons own that show.....look what he did to marcelito and other Filipino and half Filipino contestants that went to the final rounds.......

English is not his native language, so dont expect everyone to speak english fluently. While he understands english and can sing in english well, conversing in english is an entirely different thing. That's why he needs help to express his thoughts and emotions articulately
