This man was my old Spanish teacher. He was kind, funny, and always entertained us with songs and fun clips to help us learn. Christina was my old PE teacher. She was kind and overall a great person. Wooow. Bumped into this audition yesterday afternoon. Cried a river. Went out in the evening and told the story and the video was uploaded. Dint think l had more tears, but l did. Just now l have been back to watch it and l am still crying. I wish you well Mr Mauser. Hope the kids are doing well and wish you the best. 🙏

It wasn't like an audition. To me, it sounded like he was talking directly to his wife, and I really felt that! That was way beyond a performance, but heart-wrenching. It was painful.

Yup I member that day it happened it was sad that they all lost their lives. Yes it was all that they would say Kobe Bryant n Gigi, I know alot of people were upset because they didn't mention the others names only as the passengers. Its sad either way you look at it cause they're no longer here, may our grandpa(GOD OUR CREATOR) n our dad(Jesus) up above bring them comfort n protection n strength to carry on.

I watched this with my wife and had no clue that I would have the same experience this man had shortly after. I remember she cried, said it was so sad, he was so hurt. I have never been able to watch this since she left us; she caught COVID and was gone four days later. I wish things got better after such a crushing blow, but then 4 months later, our house caught fire; at least I got a chance to follow her advice, save my son, then grab the pictures and everything else we could replace. I can tell you that you are just now going through this, it is hell, but it gets better with time, the hurt is no less, but you learn to live with it.

Idk anyone who only remembers Kobe and his daughter. My first thought was "omg. I hope the other families are compensated, remembered, honored, and have access to counseling bc many lives were just lost and this is traffic for EVERYONE involved." The world is not heartless, it's not bad, and most people have compassion for others. Just bc the ignorant is so loud and the media focuses on that, it doesn't mean that's how life really is. There are so many amazing individuals who felt bad and prayed for all involved.

I watched this audition when it aired. And I was stunned. Not only a great artist but an amazing person. When the world lost Kobe Bryant, Matt Mauser lost his world. I can't imagine his pain, nor would I wish it on anyone. I know as a child, losing a parent is arguably the toughest thing to go through.

I couldn't even imagine the pain this man is going through and his children. Prayers for you and your family

It is a reminder that not just Kobe and Gianna died. Other families lost loved ones and their grief and pain is just as real. He’s a strong man and I can tell his wife was a beautiful soul. It was so special.

Everyone's commenting on the emotion but let's not overlook the fact that he has a GORGEOUS voice - silky smooth, wonderful tone and to be able to control it through that level of emotion is a real pro performance! 💕

Saw this when his audition first came out. Goosebumps. 100000x better than original, hands down. I’ve watched this many times over, just now thought of him again, & showed my 14yr old too. Goosebumps & tears. RIP Christina. You couldn’t ask for a more loving, selfless, dedicated, strong husband & father. They r in good hands. God bless

This man really is strong and the son is trying his hardest to hold his emotions within himself & he’s hurting bad. Oldest is staying strong not only for the little one but for her dad. Baby doesn’t know nothing just knows her mom won’t be coming back. This is so sad I’m beyond happy for them for accomplishing things & living life to not forget to have fun & make memories happy. Grief is hard it won’t get better at all but it’ll get easier to control I’ve learned that. Happy for you sir! Keep it going for them

This man was my old Spanish teacher he was one of my favorite teachers and he would always sing to us and play games with us he was always so cheerful, this song made me so sad because I know them and my whole family feels that pain. love to his whole family ❤️

Salute to this man💪❤. It's not that easy to sing with a lump in your throat and a grief within your heart👏.

He really shows how much he love and mis her too... And also do let know to all of us to live life beautiful before we disappear in this world... I like his manliness .

He plays in a local-band called Tijuana Dogs and also does Sinatra era music. He really is very talented, this was an emotional audition that didn’t show his range but you will see his talent in the next rounds.

Matt was my teacher back when he taught at our elementary school. We're all very tight knit in that community, with a small class size that is kinda forced to become family. He was the best kind of teacher to have around, & his wife Christina was the best form of support through my years K-12. They're the most genuine family. He brought his guitar into class EVERY day and played our worries away with fun songs in spanish. Christina was so special and it's still so hard for me to believe she was gone. She helped me through some of my darkest days in my developmental years. I'm so happy to finally see him on a stage shining, where he truly belongs. To put a time on it, I'm 23 years old now and this was way BACK when i was in kindergarten! He is so deserving of this success, and I'm sending all my love and support to his family ❤️

The media almost always refers to them only as the "7 others" when we hear about that horrific helicopter crash. I appreciated hearing the story of Christina and her beautiful family, they should always be named so that we can remember their lives as well.

I really, really love this ,I lost my husband in 98 ,I keep listening to it over and over

“We did it! Let’s go get some ice cream!”. That’s probably what hit me the most in this video. The fact that he still has to be strong for his 3 kids. Seeing my daughter cry because she’s scared of the dark already breaks my heart. I can only imagine how painful it is to tell your kids that their mommy is gone while also trying to he strong for them.

Would have never expected something like this on America's Got Talent ??? Then this is the first time you watch agt......that`s all they do.....other acts are 2mins...emotional act let`s make it 10min....so lame

I know this song from childhood but only now i felt every word of that song through your performance. May God give you strength and bless your family.

Oh I don't now how he could sing that song. So appropriate, sad but lovely. God bless him and the children to be the best after this great loss.

I can’t imagine the pain he and his children have endured. I hope this audition gave them a small sense of peace. He did amazing. He gave his kids more than he possibly could ever imagine. They will always have the memory of their mom as well the memory of their dad singing on AGT. I wish them strength and continued comfort.

Out of all AGT episodes ever to air.. this one hit me the hardest. Such a strong man, a strong father to his kids. You can tell how much he loved his wife and how great of a dad he is despite the tragic passing of the love of his life. The song he sang has a whole different meaning and feeling now. May God, his wife and all angels protect him and his family. Sending blessings and love! 💗😥

I've listened this song many times... But this is the first time i felt the lyrics... Great singers didn't just sing, they delivered the lyrics to our heart as well...

I don’t even watch tv, but I caught this somehow. I was on the sofa crying my eyes out. And when he finished my kids stood up from the table & started clapping. This man is blessed & highly favored. Wifey was definitely present during that performance. Much love to you & your family 💜💜💜

15 years of marriage. Nowadays that's an eternity. His mom was wise about her.

That wasn’t just a audition it was a tribute to his wife his rock his forever love who has left this earth way way too soon I felt every word he sang I can’t imagine how hard it is to loose someone that important. Prayers for him and his family 🙏🏻❤️

This definitely was a golden buzzer-worthy performance.

That's called love my friend you'll endure anything for the one you love even if it's only in remembrance you can do it with the right why his why is also what made him break down at the end but thats OK because he still did it he's a good man and his wife must've been an angel

no matter how many times I hear him..when the singing comes from heart..it is heartfelt 😭😭😭

This man always makes me cry, when he said " she would want us to have happy lives, I don't know if that's possible but I'm gonna try" I felt the tears... You can feel the love he has for his wife, and I know she is watching down on him every single second. He is a very strong man. God bless him and his children. I hope he wins

This man is so strong. I mean, after the tragedy that stole 9 beautiful souls, the families have been so strong, and all of them fighting for their children: Vanessa and her girls, the Paytons, the Altobellis, Matt and his kids. I'm the #1 Kobe Bryant fan and I still can't get over this tragedy, today marking two years of that horrible day, and my heart will always be with these 9 angels and their families. He chose one of my favorite Mariah Carey songs and really touched me! God bless them, forever and always!

His voice is actually really good. And the song was so emotional. I'll never listen to Against All Odds the same way again after hearing his story and the way he sang this song. I can still feel he is grieving. I hope they will find peace.

I’ve cried at many auditions from agt but this one hit me the hardest. the emotion that he put into this song was incredible. and it really shows that the helicopter crash was more than just Kobe and Gianna. Props to him. Regardless how far he goes he will be a winner to not only many of us but to his children and family as well❤️

This gave me goosebumps and made me tear up, those children are lucky to have such a brave father and their mother would be so proud

If they ever make a Disney movie with a singing King, I would want his voice to sound like this…or just hire this guy 😂. Such a nice tone to his singing.
