What Howie said at the end is so true. She was 12 years old doing this and now she’s 19 wanting to evolve and show the world what else she has within her and not just ventriloquism. She didn’t fully overshadow ventriloquism, she still did it without controlling petunia. I love this risk she did, she gave a killer performance. To me this enough for her to go forward, I wanna see more. All the best, Go Darci.

She’s amazing but in my opinion she overdid it. Her performance of her and petunia in the past are what most of the audience wants to see.

I think this was a killer performance, think about it, she’s playing a guitar, singing in two voices, one without opening her mouth. It was a good risk and now, we know she can make her own music, with Petunia!

Her performance was fine. Just a poor choice of music. It’s been done by everyone. It might have been fresh when donny Osmond did it, and the retired RVers in Vegas might like it, but she could do much better.

She still did the ventriloquism, but added the guitar. She played 3 parts: Petunia, the guitar, and her own unobstructed singing. Any untalented person can control the puppet. This was a whole new act we've never seen before. 3 talents! Fabulous!

Right? I mean, do we all really, really hear and appreciate what she's doing vocally?! If anything, the puppets overshadow her other incredible talent, which is just SINGING!!! She's better than the majority of natural, live, unedited singers out there-and she's doing it with her teeth closed, without moving her lips! I don't know if people (especially those judges) are truly realizing what a TALENT we have on our hands here! Plus she has a great face, has a great personality, she knows how to use anticipation like she did here, so clearly she's smart, she's fit, has great style, and Can Play An Instrument [maybe more; we don't know]! WHY are they overlooking EVERYTHING! Darcy IS their "golden ticket" to the next big thing! And if she keeps Petunia, that makes her a unique, different thing, rocking out with her duo style, and also keeps her family-friendly to ALL ages & audiences! Which means even more success. And as *those* new, young fans grow, they will continue along with her if she ever decides to "go solo". I don't know what they're not seeing, but I see it _all._

She WAS controlling the puppet physically. Everybody has missed that. I don't think she had "Muppet handlers" - I think the puppet was programmed, and along with everything else, Darcy had to time her performance to the puppet. It was amazing.

Usually the judges are more about their own images overall......But Heidi and Howie are right on here. Mel B and whatever happened to Simon's senses are insane.

Honestly loved this switch-up for Darci! She didn't completely abandon her roots but also she doesn’t just want to be stuck in her bubble and do the same things over and over like some others acts are comfortable doing. Love variety, so much respect for her, LET PEOPLE SWITCH THINGS UP AGT!

You can’t blame Darci for wanting to switch things up a bit. If she keeps doing the same stuff over and over again eventually the fans are gonna get bored and honestly she would probably get bored doing the same stuff. I don’t know what Mel and Simon were on about this was an incredible performance. Also did they miss the part when the puppet came to life and Darci wasn’t even touching her?

Agreed. She was only 12 when she first auditioned. She's grown up and should change things up if she wants to make it more interesting. AGT always wants something new, so I really don't get why the judges criticize her for that. Good thing she made it through to the semi-finals.

Amazing. I was so disappointed in Mel and Simon. Hopefully all the criticism doesn't discourage Darci from further innovating in the semifinal. I will be saddened if Darci regresses her act in order to please the judges. It must have stung being criticized by the same woman who shot you to fame with the golden buzzer back in the day.

Performers have to evolve and grow in order to keep people's interest. Both you and the judges are telling Darci to staying forever in the box she built when she was 12.

This is one of the very few times I've ever thought that simon was wrong. I agree with Howie, Darci is 19, she's growing up and developing her style, she didn’t abandon her ventriloquism, but she also got to show her other talents, i think it was a perfect mix. Mel said she loved the simplicity of what Darci use to do, and so do i, but this is AGT FANTASY LEAGUE! Darci knew she had to up her game and i believe she absolutely did❤

If the Judges were expecting a performance from a 12 year old who hadn't performed in seven years, would any of them want her to be on their team? Saying that they were expecting a 12 year old is actually very disrespectful to Darci, considering all the amazing things that she has accomplished in her career.

I thought this was amazing. She is older. She is evolving. This was entertaining and I’d pay to she a full show like this. It was fun.

Darci's all grown up now and ready to move on to do SOLO work, I respect that. Some ventriloquists I imagine will grow out of it. She might have grown a bit tired of the Act. That's what I sensed in her act. 7-8 years straight of a whole lotta that.

There are some ventriloquists who have been doing it for decades. It's all about being creative in different ways and finding new ways to keep it fresh. Darci could have done that too but she's always had a desire to do other things, and she has.

I love the idea that Darci decided to do something a little different, she can play guitar and can sing like an angel, and didn’t stop doing her ventriloquism during her performance! She is one of my favorite winners of America’s Got Talent for a reason, I knew the audience would back her up despite some criticism! I just love her, I just can’t fault it honestly!

I've taken my daughter to one of her shows. I have seen her on AGT and various KZread vids. This girl has a wonderful voice and I couldn't wait to just hear her sing not being a ventriloquist. She did so in her show and she was fantastic. She put on a great family show and I look forward to what else she has planned for entertainment.

As you know Darci Lynne is multitalented (singer, ventriloquist, puppeteer, voice actress, actress, comedian, host, scriptwriter and song writer, musician,) She was even a gymnast at a young. I encourage Darci Lynne to explore all opportunity that come her was, who knows what the future holds for Darci Lynne she may have her own Television show or appear on Broadway, or another movie role or voice over work as for now she seems to enjoy singing on stage and trading off with doing ventriloquism. I am a bit surprise on what Melanie Brown and Simon Cowell are saying here, why limit yourself to just doing one thing when you are multitalented as Darci Lynne is.

Darci was absolutely Phenomenal!!!! She showed not only her amazing ventriloquism but also how here voice has changed and evolved and that now she PLAY THE GUITAR !!! OMG !!! And let’s not forget how she showed them SHE’S A COMPLETE ENTERTAINER !!!!

you are definitely not the only one i loved it and i am so really super proud of darci shes always amazing and the audience gave her a standing ovation and she got through to semis and she did amazing with her orginal song in semis darci did awesome the superfans got this weeks results wrong darci should be in the finals but it does not matter she already won agt and she is going to go far in life darci is amazing and does not need agt especially the way mel b and simon treated her they were so wrong darci is allowed to grow up and have different interests her main passion is singing. i am so really super proud of darci shes a standing ovation act no matter what happened on agt fantsay

This performance stands as a lesson. Yes, the interaction with the puppets IS what made us love her, but she doesn't want it to be the ONLY thing we know her for. And people change. If she wants to branch out more, that's her right. I got so much second hand embarrassment on how Mel and Simon just didn't GET what she was trying to convey. At least it paid off in the end and she got through to the next round

I think they absolutely GOT what she was doing. Everyone above the age of 19 totally gets it. But they were 100% right. We have a million singing acts, and we love Darci because of her ventriloquism. She didn't...there wasn't a voice to Petunia, it was just her singing open mouthed or closed mouthed, and very little of the charm that we fell in love with. If Darci wants to do that, that's great. But she is going to have to advertise to a different audience, I think. That's just reality.

@@AriyaLauna I agree with you 100%! Her uniqeness is her combined talent of ventriloquism and singing. And in the past she included more comedic conversation between her and Petunia. You got it - there are tons of singers out there, tons of guitar players and singers - there are very few ventriloquist singers. And I agree this is what Simon was trying to say. And I agree, if she changes it up she will have to target a new audience. What I loved most about her, when she was 12 was her ventriloquism, and if I went to see her in a show, that is what I would expect to see and would be disappointed if the puppet got such little air time. Just like Terry Fator. He's a great singer too, but I enjoy him most for the ventriloquism, and that is what he delivers. In my opinion the singing of both Darci & Terry stands out even greater of how good they are because it is accompanied with the ventriloquism.

She started with what we know she does best then she broke out from the mould and took her skill to the next level and that is play guitar and sing with her mouth closed and her mouth open....switching from one to the other every now and then. She’s trying to show the audience and the judges that she’s not the same person she was when she was 12 and we should try and see what she plans to do. Plus, I think Mel’s still a bit salty about Heidi getting darci on her team.

I've not seen many acts that deserved a golden buzzer more than she did. She still did a good job in this.

One of the most exquisite and versatile voices in history, as well as the Queen of AGT and Ventriloquism. Full package entertainer!

Mel B and Simon didn't like it, but I love it

If I was to attend a full show by her in Vegas, I'd want lots of ventriloquism, but I'd want some segments of just Darci Lynne as a singer and performer. I'd love to see her pick up multiple instruments and show us her versatility. I love the idea that she has Muppet handlers to move her creations and that she could still do the voices herself while being physically separated from them. A 90-minute show of just standup comedy via ventriloquism would get old about halfway through. This performance shows us that she has many facets to her talent, and I'd love a show that truly highlighted every aspect of her performance capabilities.

Simon and Mel B are honestly very in the wrong here. There was still plenty of ventriloquism in this act, but we actually got to see more of DARCI in this performance. We got to see her own singing style and just seeing her break out of her own bubble was incredible. This is genuinely my favorite act of Darci's over the past seven years, she was amazing here. I seriously hope she can make it into the next round.

She advanced, thankfully. Darci said in an interview leading up to this that she thought people had frozen her at 12. I see exactly what she meant. Mel and Simon seem to want Darci to do the same thing over and over and to never evolve as a performer. I agree this was probably Darci's best performance ever and I didn't think the music and singing overshadowed the ventriloquism at all. Darci's natural singing is insanely good and she added playing an instrument to the mix while still doing ventriloquism. This is something I've never seen before.

Remember one thing here. Simon is the expert when it comes to marketing in the entertainment industry. Darci has a unique talent but if she switches across to singing without the puppet although she is extremely good she is far from unique. She wants to be able to showcase more of what she can do as an overall talent and not just ventriloquism. She came out with an act where she could include all these talents into. I appreciated it. It was not my favorite of all her performances but I enjoyed it and appreciated what she was trying to do.

She's 19, she wants to open new doors, she has the desire and guts to try something new and see where it goes.

Darci just proved she is a world class act!! she looks awesome, can definitly sing!! love her!

Saw Darci perform at our county fair which is the largest agricultural fair on the side of my state and she did something similar to this and left us all blown away! We all loved it and her! Howie spoke such truth at the end about how she is allowed to evolve and should want to. She is so talented and she has a right to grow within all her talents

I really don't think Darcy ever can totally give up her ventriloquism because it's far too ingrained into her persona. It's what everyone knows and sets her apart as Mel and Simon said. That being said there is no reason she can't step away from her puppets for a minute to show she does have more to offer...like being able to rock out on guitar . People get bored with the same old thing so now at 19 and years from her win Darcy *has* to step it up once again and evolve to show she isn't just a one or even two trick pony . If she does the same thing over and over she'll be a child star who the public gets bored with and loses interest in ...and that can't happen because she's far more talented than that. Darci can do it all, and there's nothing wrong with her act Evolving into something bigger. Her comedic timing is just as impressive as her ventriloquism and singing. Top level all the way.

No matter what Ms Darci does. She's done won millions of pples hearts a 100x over. We ll love her just being Ms Darci

She’s turned into such a beautiful young woman who’s grown up so fast and just has gotten even better as she’s gotten older.

Darci Lynne was amazing. This young woman is a MAJOR talent, great voice, beautiful, and deserves everything in life. Applause to her and her performance.

As a person around her age right now, i absolutely understand where she's coming from and how much of a really brave step she's taking right now. I personally know how it feels when you do something great when you're young and how people can get attached to that image but by human nature, we change with time and most people can't appreciate that. Most people can't appreciate a new version after they've fallen so in love with the initial one

Honestly I love her plain singing more, I love puppets but her singing is just top notch ❤❤❤💯💯

I heard her sing in person and was expecting it to not be nearly as good live and I was shocked at how great she sounded, both with her mouth open and closed.

@@mkdutta9428 when she did that special, I hadn't heard of her yet. And I was talking to my aunt on the phone about The Voice (it was on right before her Christmas special). She told me to watch the special because this girl was great etc... I still only just sort of glanced at it from time to time. Then later on I saw her audition and realized how good she was and wished I watched the whole Christmas special. lol.

I would agree with Mel n Simon IF Darci had simply dropped Petunia after a few minutes. However, she had introduced the element of "magic" with Petunia coming to live independently and she was still voicing Petunia!! So, Darci fully deserves to explore and grow in her field. Why are the judges clipping her wings to put her back into the small box?!. It was a brilliant performance though I would have loved a different song😊🎉

Agreed. The judges were very close/narrow-minded here. I hope Heidi won't coach Darci back into the box since she was the judge who enjoyed the performance.

Yup, that was it for me. She dropped Petunia and I was like, "Oh, boy, that is a horrible choice to completely abandon why she was chosen," but then I saw she was still doing a "duet," so that saved it. Got to bring in her (I'm assuming) new talent with guitar while also keeping the ventriloquism that she's known and loved for.

In a word the judges were dogshit . There is absolutely no problem in more pettles springing from a flower .

This young lady is AMAZING!!! I saw her as a 12 year old ventriloquist who was awesome, and now, at 19, she's added guitar playing into her ventriloquist act! She's unbelievably talented!! Darci, don't ever stop being you!!! You're incredible!!!

Darcy has a GREAT voice and extremely talented. I am so happy for her to be successful! Howie is right, she’s not a little girl anymore and is exploring her world at 19. Go, Darcy, go!!

She gave such a spectacular performance, playing the guitar, singing and then switching between to her ventriloquism voice aka petunia! Like she is so incredibly talented and skilled, absolutely wonderful 👏 I disagree with what Mel b said, she didn’t overshadow anything at all I believe she deserved a golden buzzer for that

she rocked the stage just like in 2017. It´s incredible to see the young girl growed into a very great young woman and used the time for new ideas to be greater then she was in the past, which is also nearly impossible. Great performance! °-°

Looking at the comments made my Heart melt I feel the same way as many people feel I would of given her another Golden Buzzer for sure it does not matter what she did at 12 years old was what she did she still loves to do what she does but she has grown up from being 12 and now she has came to realize that it’s not just about her puppets anymore she wanted to show off her singing skills too not just her puppets. The criticism was unnecessary and unacceptable I love the switch up as well I wish her all the best.

For sure. I love how Darci's act has evolved to showcase more of her own singing. The judges' criticism came off as extremely close-minded. They were basically telling Darci to stay in the box she built when she was 12 because they aren't open to anything different.

Absolutely fantastic performance. Just shows she can sing with mouth open or closed. Absolutely hats off to you sweet pea. You smashed it.

mel b and simon were both wrong i thought darci was awesome and one of her best performances and i am happy darci made it semis she did awesome singing an orginal song and i am happy she followed her heart i am so really super proud of darci darci should be in finals but did not i understand that it’s probably harder in fantasy leagie to go through but results were so disappointing darci and other talents did not go through and i am bummed that i could not vote for darci since you had to be in the audience or a super fan which is why it made it hard for darci because some people that wanted to vote like me could not but darci will go far in life and does not need agt she will do amazing in life she already has i am so really super proud of darci and will always be a fan and happy darci was on hiedis dream team hiedi was more supportive where mel b was not mel b was just mean
